Protect Your Business from Phishing Scams
90% of all data breaches can be traced back to phishing attacks. Malicious individuals target sensitive information, credit cards, SS#, passwords etc. While phishing targets everyday consumers – always remember that as a business, you are sometimes a consumer. How Phishing Normally Works: Phishing occurs through online forms and emails that ask for private info – either to resolve an issue or signup for a service. Also, most phishing is masked in the form of “well-trusted” companies. For example, you might receive an email from a phisher pretending to be a “Phone Company” representative, or writer from a famous site. How to Deal With Phishing. First, don’t provide any private information in response to an unsolicited email. Educate your employees about the risks phishing scams pose. Also, keep your computers / devices properly secured. Use an email spam / filter, install an anti-virus program, malware detectors, and make sure to run frequent scans.
